The R3S is Ruark's compact music system in the R Series, combining a slot-loading CD player, dual 75mm NS+ drivers in a twin bass reflex cabinet, and 30W of Class A/B amplification with Wi-Fi streaming, Bluetooth, and radio reception in a single enclosure.
Drivers, Amplification, and Cabinet
Two 75mm Ruark NS+ full-range drivers operate in a twin bass reflex cabinet. Amplification is 30W nominal from a Class A/B output stage. Typical in-room frequency response is 50Hz–20kHz. Adjustable bass and treble controls offer a range of -6dB to +6dB, with a switchable loudness EQ and a switchable 3D audio processor.
CD, Streaming, and Radio
The built-in slot-loading CD drive plays CD-DA and CD-R discs, including data discs containing WAV (16-bit/44.1kHz), MP3, WMA, and AAC files up to 320kbps. Spotify Connect, Deezer, and Amazon Music run natively on the device. Internet Radio, DAB/DAB+, and FM with RDS (87.5–108MHz) are all supported, with a dedicated podcast source. Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n with WEP, WPA, and WPA2) connects the R3S to the home network for streaming. Bluetooth V5.2 with SBC codec provides wireless audio from smartphones and computers. A USB-C port on the rear handles 5V/1A device charging and playback of MP3 files (up to 48kHz/320kbps) from FAT32-formatted USB drives.
Inputs, Outputs, and Interface
A stereo RCA line input (up to 2.3Vrms) connects analogue sources. A TOSLINK optical input accepts digital PCM up to 24-bit/96kHz. Outputs include stereo RCA line out and a mono RCA subwoofer output (2.0Vrms), plus a 3.5mm headphone jack (25mW into 16–32 ohm). A 75 ohm F-type aerial connector is provided for external aerial connection. The tactile RotoDial controller handles source selection and volume. An OLED display with auto-dimming shows programme, time, and alarm information.
