The Rotel RA-1592 sits at the top of Rotel’s 15-series integrated amplifier range, combining the preamplifier topology of the acclaimed RC-1590 with the power amplifier section from the RB-1582 Mk II in a single chassis. Delivering 200 watts per channel into 8Ω, it is designed to drive demanding loudspeakers without compromise while providing an unusually broad set of analogue and digital inputs for a stereo integrated amplifier.
Amplification
The RA-1592 employs a Class AB output stage in a dual-monoblock topology, with separate left and right amplifier sections fed by a Rotel-manufactured toroidal transformer. Custom slit-foil storage capacitors provide energy reserves for dynamic transients, while the dual-mono layout minimises inter-channel crosstalk. Total harmonic distortion is rated at less than 0.03% across the full 20Hz–20kHz bandwidth, with a damping factor of 600 ensuring tight control over low-frequency drivers. Speaker outputs use 5-way binding posts with A/B switching, and two dedicated subwoofer outputs are provided.
Digital Section
At the heart of the RA-1592’s digital stage is a premium AKM 32-bit/768kHz digital-to-analogue converter. Three coaxial and three optical S/PDIF inputs accept LPCM streams up to 24-bit/192kHz, while the rear-panel PC-USB input supports USB Audio Class 1 (24-bit/192kHz) and USB Audio Class 2 (32-bit/384kHz) including native DSD and DoP playback. A built-in Bluetooth receiver with aptX codec support enables wireless streaming from compatible devices. The front panel includes a USB input for Apple devices and USB flash drives.
Analogue Inputs
Three line-level RCA inputs and one balanced XLR input cater for traditional analogue sources, each with an input impedance of 100kΩ. A dedicated moving-magnet phono stage with 47kΩ impedance and 5.2mV sensitivity provides a direct turntable connection without the need for an external phono preamplifier.
Control and Integration
The RA-1592 includes both RS232 and Ethernet IP control interfaces for integration into custom installation environments, alongside two 12V trigger outputs and a remote IR input. An automatic digital signal sense function can power the amplifier on when an active digital input is detected. Bass and treble tone controls offer ±12dB adjustment at 100Hz and 10kHz respectively, with a tone bypass mode for purist listening.
