The Rotel RA-1572 MKII is the second-generation integrated amplifier in Rotel's 15 Series, sitting below the flagship RA-1592 MKII and above the entry-level A14 MKII in the range. Building on the original RA-1572, the MKII revision introduces 33 component upgrades across acoustic and filter capacitors and the power supply, drawing on engineering developed for Rotel's high-end Michi series.
Amplifier Design
The RA-1572 MKII delivers 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 200 watts per channel into 4 ohms from its Class AB output stage. At the heart of the power supply is an in-house manufactured oversized toroidal transformer, designed to minimise stray radiation interference. This feeds a bank of four low-ESR, high-efficiency T-Network slit-foil storage capacitors for deep, controlled bass energy. The amplifier achieves a damping factor of 300, with total harmonic distortion below 0.018% and intermodulation distortion below 0.03% (60Hz:7kHz, 4:1).
Digital Audio & DAC
The built-in Texas Instruments 32-bit/384kHz DAC handles all digital sources with critically tuned output filter circuits. The PC-USB input supports both USB Audio Class 1 (24-bit/192kHz) and Class 2 (32-bit/384kHz), with full MQA and MQA Studio decoding up to 24-bit/384kHz. Digital frequency response extends from 10Hz to 90kHz (±2dB), with a signal-to-noise ratio of 100dB on digital inputs.
Connectivity
Analogue inputs include multiple line-level RCA connections (100kΩ impedance) alongside an XLR balanced input. A dedicated moving magnet phono stage (47kΩ impedance, 80dB signal-to-noise ratio) accommodates turntable connections directly without an external phono pre-amplifier. Wireless streaming is handled by aptX and AAC Bluetooth. The RA-1572 MKII is certified Roon Tested for optimised compatibility with Roon playback software.
For multi-room and custom installation use, the amplifier provides Speaker A/B selection for Zone 2 operation, along with Ethernet and RS232 connectivity for integration with home automation control systems. A front-panel 3.5mm headphone jack is also included.
Build & Finish
The front panel features a status display showing source selection and volume level, with dedicated source and volume controls. The RA-1572 MKII measures 431 × 144 × 358mm and weighs 13.63kg. Power consumption is 400W during operation, dropping to less than 0.5W in standby.
