The Rotel A14 MKII is the flagship integrated amplifier in Rotel’s 14 Series, delivering 80 watts per channel into 8 ohms from a Class AB output stage built around an oversized toroidal transformer manufactured in-house by Rotel. Rated at 150 watts per channel into 4-ohm loads, the A14 MKII is designed to drive demanding loudspeakers with authority whilst maintaining low distortion figures of less than 0.018% THD and an intermodulation distortion figure below 0.03%.
Digital Section & DAC
At the heart of the A14 MKII’s digital section is a Texas Instruments 32-bit/384kHz DAC, integrated into a fully redesigned digital-to-analogue circuit topology. Rotel specify exhaustive tuning and hand selection of all critical components in this stage, targeting a fuller and more balanced presentation than the original A14. The digital signal-to-noise ratio is quoted at 103dB. PC-USB input supports both USB Audio Class 1 (24-bit/96kHz) and Class 2 (32-bit/384kHz), with full MQA decoding and rendering. The A14 MKII is certified Roon Tested.
Connectivity
The A14 MKII provides a comprehensive set of inputs spanning analogue, digital, and wireless. Digital inputs include coaxial and optical S/PDIF connections accepting up to 24-bit/192kHz, alongside the PC-USB input. Wireless streaming is handled by built-in Bluetooth with aptX and AAC codec support. A dedicated moving magnet phono stage is built in, with 47kΩ impedance and 3.4mV sensitivity, allowing direct connection of a turntable without an external phono pre-amplifier.
Tone Controls & Zone 2
Bass and treble tone controls operate in 1dB increments up to ±10dB at 100Hz and 10kHz respectively, with a bypass mode for purist listening. Dual pairs of 5-way speaker binding posts enable Zone 2 installations, and a pre-amplifier output (1.2V) is provided for connection to an external power amplifier. The front panel display shows volume level and audio stream information.
Control Integration
For custom installation environments, the A14 MKII offers Ethernet, RS232, 12V trigger, and remote IR control inputs. Standby power consumption is less than 0.5W.
