The QED Screwloc ABS 4mm Duo Spade Connectors are a solder-free speaker cable termination from QED, one of the UK’s most established cable specialists. Sold as a pack of four (two red, two black), they provide a secure, colour-coded connection between speaker cables and amplifier or speaker binding posts, ideal for systems where spade termination is preferred or required.
Duo Spade Design
Unlike standard spade connectors that are dimensioned for either 6 mm or 10 mm binding posts, the Screwloc Duo Spade is designed to make firm contact with both standard and wide spade terminals. The forked contact head is engineered to engage securely regardless of whether the binding post is a standard or oversized width, making the Duo Spade a practical all-round choice when terminating cables across different equipment.
Screwloc Termination
Each connector uses QED’s twin Screwloc mechanism, two internal screws clamp the bare cable conductor firmly in place without soldering, making installation straightforward and repeatable. The clamp suits cable diameters up to 3.25 mm, covering the vast majority of speaker cables on the market. No special tools are required.
Construction
The connector body is machined from brass with a cross-sectional area approximately double that of the connected cable, minimising the connector’s contribution to overall circuit resistance. A 24 kt gold plating is applied to all contact surfaces, gold offers resistivity nearly as low as copper while resisting the oxidation that degrades unplated connections over time. The outer barrel is moulded in colour-coded ABS plastic (red for positive, black for negative) for quick polarity identification during installation.
