Built for the Outdoors
The QED Qx16/2 is a professional-grade 2-core installation speaker cable engineered for outdoor and multi-room applications. Its black polyethylene (PE) outer sheath is both water and UV resistant, and the cable can be buried directly in the ground without additional conduit — making it a practical choice for permanent garden audio installations, outdoor cinema setups, and architectural multi-room systems where the cable run must be concealed or weather-exposed.
Large Cross-Sectional Copper Conductors
Each conductor uses 30 strands of 0.26mm high-purity copper wire, giving a cross-sectional area of 2.0mm² (16 AWG). At 13.3 Ω/km, the low resistance is well suited to extended runs without the voltage drop that plagues thinner installation cables. The colour-coded red and black conductor sheaths make termination straightforward and polarity errors less likely.
Professional Installation Features
Sequential metre marking is printed along the jacket in countdown format, so installers can track remaining cable on the drum as the run progresses. The 6.20mm outside diameter is slender enough to route through conduit or between joists, yet robust enough for direct burial. The Qx16/2 meets IEC 60332-1 flame retardant standards and is fully RoHS2 compliant. A CPR Declaration of Performance is available from QED for projects requiring regulatory documentation.
Supplied on a 300m Reel
This listing is for a single 300m reel of QED Qx16/2 in black PE jacket — sufficient for substantial multi-room or outdoor installations. For smaller runs, the Qx16/2 is also available cut to custom lengths.
