The QED Performance Y-SW Subwoofer Adaptor sits within QED's mid-range Performance series, above the entry-level Connect range and below the flagship Reference line. It is a purpose-built signal splitter that takes a single RCA phono output from a receiver or AV amplifier and splits it into two RCA phono connections, allowing both left and right inputs on an active subwoofer to be driven from a single subwoofer output. It can also be used wherever a signal needs to be split between two pieces of equipment, such as when bi-amping.
Construction
The Performance Y-SW uses 99.999% oxygen-free copper conductors with silver plating, providing a low-resistance signal path that minimises signal degradation at the point of connection. QED's quasi-balanced twisted-pair geometry is employed throughout the adaptor's internal wiring, a technique that provides common-mode noise rejection normally absent in conventional unbalanced audio cables. This geometry helps maintain signal integrity even in electrically noisy environments.
Shielding
Dual electrostatic shielding protects the signal against interference from external high-voltage sources. The shield is designed to be connected at the source end for optimal performance, hence the directionality arrows printed on the cable jacket.
Connectors
All three connectors are 24k gold-plated RCA phono plugs and socket, providing tarnish-resistant contacts that maintain low contact resistance over time. The single input socket connects to the subwoofer output on your amplifier or receiver, while the two output plugs connect to the left and right inputs on your active subwoofer.
