Performance sits at the heart of the QED range, above the entry-level Connect series and below Reference and Signature. Performance Subwoofer is the cable QED supplies for the link between an amplifier or AV receiver and an active subwoofer, and it forms part of the new 13-model Performance range introduced in October 2026 alongside matching speaker, analogue and digital cables.
Conductor Design
Performance Subwoofer uses two electrically isolated solid-core conductors made from 99.999% oxygen-free copper. The two conductors are deliberately given different diameters, an approach QED calls Solid Complementary Conductor Technology, which is designed to help reduce timing errors and maintain signal accuracy throughout the audio pathway. A foamed polyethylene dielectric keeps the signal path low-loss, with a quoted loop resistance of 0.081 Ω/m and a parallel capacitance of 66 pF/m.
Noise Rejection
The low-level analogue signal travelling between amplifier and subwoofer has to survive a room full of interference from televisions, Wi-Fi routers, games consoles, switching power supplies and smart home devices. Performance Subwoofer combines dual electrostatic screening with QED Ferrite Insulation Technology; the screening stack is made up of a ferrite jacket, an aluminium Mylar wrap and a 100% shield braid, protecting the signal from RF and digital interference before it reaches the subwoofer.
Installation
Subwoofers rarely sit conveniently next to the amplifier, so the cable uses an ultra-flexible TPE outer jacket in a cool grey finish that routes easily and helps reduce handling noise during setup. The jacket measures 6 mm in outside diameter. Gold-plated QED phono connectors terminate each end for a reliable, high-conductivity connection.
Where It Fits
QED positions Performance Subwoofer for integrated amplifiers feeding active subwoofers, stereo systems that need deeper low-frequency extension, AV receivers and home cinema systems, and any setup using a dedicated LFE output. It is supplied as a single mono run and is also offered in 3m and 6m lengths.
