QED Performance Subwoofer Cable (3m Single)

The QED Performance Subwoofer sits in the middle of QED’s three-tier subwoofer cable range, above the entry-level Connect Subwoofer and below the Reference Subwoofer 40. It is designed to carry the low-frequency analogue signal from an AV receiver or amplifier to an active subwoofer with minimal interference, even over longer cable runs.

Construction

The cable uses 99.999% oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors arranged in a quasi-balanced twisted pair geometry. This symmetrical layout provides superior noise immunity compared to a standard unbalanced cable, as externally induced interference tends to cancel out across the two conductors. The twisted pair is enclosed within dual electro-static shielding, which further protects the signal against electromagnetic interference — particularly important on runs of three metres or more where the cable may pass near mains wiring or other sources of noise.

Connectors

Each end is terminated with QED’s Analoc gold-plated RCA connector. The Analoc design uses high-purity copper conductors in place of the large-volume brass body found in conventional RCA plugs, reducing eddy currents that can affect signal timing. A hollow central pin addresses the skin effect, and a locking barrel increases clamping force for a secure, low-resistance connection. Directionality arrows printed on the jacket indicate the recommended signal flow direction.

Insulation

Foamed low-density polyethylene (LDPE) insulation separates the conductors. The foamed structure introduces air pockets into the dielectric, which reduces dielectric absorption and lowers energy storage in the insulation material.
