Performance Speaker Cable sits at the heart of the QED range, above the entry-level Connect series and below the Reference and Signature tiers. QED describes it as the cable it would recommend to most music lovers building a good system and wanting to get it right first time. This version is supplied factory terminated as a stereo pair of 3 m runs.
Conductor Design
Each run uses a large 2.5 mm² conductor made from 99.999% oxygen-free copper, built from ten bundles of 19/0.13 mm strands. The large cross-section delivers exceptionally low resistance, 0.017 Ω/m measured as a loop, which allows the amplifier to maintain better control of the loudspeakers and helps preserve dynamics, detail and musical accuracy across the frequency range.
X-Tube Plus Technology
At higher frequencies, conventional speaker cables can suffer from skin and proximity effects that increase resistance and affect performance. QED's X-Tube Plus Technology is designed to address this by promoting a more even current distribution throughout the conductor, helping maintain a more consistent electrical path from bass to treble.
Insulation and Jacket
A low-loss LDPE dielectric separates the conductors, specified to help preserve signal integrity. The finished jacket measures 3.96 x 9 mm and is supplied in a translucent white finish.
Airloc Termination
Both runs are factory fitted with QED Airloc banana plugs at each end. Using a proprietary cold-weld termination process, Airloc creates a high-conductivity connection that is protected against oxidation for long-term reliability. Pre-terminated lengths also remove the need for on-site stripping and termination.
System Matching
QED positions Performance Speaker Cable as an upgrade from the basic cable supplied with most equipment. It is intended for connecting integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers and AV receivers to loudspeakers, in stereo music systems built around turntables, CD players and streamers, and on home cinema front-channel and surround speaker connections.
