The QED Performance Digital Audio sits within QED’s Performance range — positioned above the entry-level Connect series and below the flagship Reference line. It is a coaxial digital interconnect designed for S/PDIF connections between CD players, Blu-ray players, network streamers, or any other digital source and a DAC or AV amplifier’s digital input.
Cable Construction
QED applies a top-down design philosophy across the Performance range, carrying construction techniques from the Signature series into more affordable cables. The Performance Digital Audio uses 99.999% oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors to minimise signal attenuation, paired with a true 75Ω ± 2% characteristic impedance coaxial geometry. Maintaining precise impedance matching is critical in digital audio transmission — deviations from the 75Ω standard cause reflections at connector interfaces that increase jitter and degrade the recovered audio signal.
Screening & Jitter Performance
Twin electrical screening provides enhanced signal integrity by rejecting external electromagnetic interference. QED rates the cable at typically 50ps jitter, classified as “Very Low Jitter” within their product hierarchy. Low jitter is essential for accurate clock recovery at the receiving DAC, directly affecting timing precision and stereo imaging.
Connectors
The cable is terminated with 24k gold-plated RCA plugs featuring a precision-engineered body with an integrated user grip. Each plug incorporates a six-leaf 24k gold ground ring that provides a stable, consistent ground connection — reducing contact resistance and ensuring reliable signal transfer across repeated insertion cycles.
