The QED Performance Audio J2J sits within QED's mid-tier Performance range, bridging the gap between the entry-level Profile series and the flagship Reference line. It is designed for connecting portable devices — smartphones, tablets, laptops, and portable music players — to amplifiers, powered speakers, or any equipment fitted with a 3.5mm stereo input.
Construction
The cable uses 99.999% oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors arranged in a quasi-balanced twisted pair geometry. This layout helps reject interference by ensuring that any noise picked up along the cable run is common to both conductors and cancels at the receiving end. The dielectric is low-density polyethylene, chosen for its low capacitance characteristics, which helps preserve high-frequency detail across the signal path.
Shielding is provided by an aluminium/Mylar wrap that delivers 100% electrostatic coverage, supplemented by an OFC drain wire to complete the screening. This combination guards against radio-frequency and electromagnetic interference — particularly useful when the source device is a smartphone or tablet that generates its own RF emissions.
Connectors
Both ends are terminated with precision die-cast, zinc-plated alloy barrels fitted with 24k gold-plated 3.5mm contacts. The stepped plug profile is a practical design detail: it accommodates protective phone and tablet cases without requiring removal, so the plug seats fully even with a case fitted.
