Construction
At its core, the Connect Optical uses a PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) acrylic glass fibre with a stepped refractive index profile. This construction channels light through the fibre with minimal signal dispersion, reducing jitter during digital audio transmission. The cable is terminated with QED’s own Toslink plugs, designed for a secure, positive fit in the socket.
Performance
The cable is rated for 24-bit/192kHz HD Audio, making it suitable for high-resolution digital audio from televisions, games consoles, CD players, DVD and Blu-ray players to a DAC, amplifier, or AV receiver. The stepped refractive index fibre helps maintain signal integrity across the full supported bandwidth.
Build & Design
Externally, the cable features a satin black ultra-flexible PVC jacket with a 4.0mm outer diameter, keeping it manageable behind equipment racks and along skirting boards. The entire Connect range ships in minimal, fully biodegradable packaging.
