The Q Acoustics QI65S is a discreet 6.5-inch in-ceiling speaker from the Q Install range, designed for whole-home audio distribution with minimal visual impact. Sold as a pair, it delivers hi-fi quality sound from a compact ceiling-mounted enclosure, making it well suited to multi-room installations in living areas, kitchens, and bedrooms.

Driver Configuration & Performance

Each speaker pairs a 6.5-inch polypropylene woofer with a 0.75-inch (19mm) swivel-mounted tweeter. The swivel mechanism allows the tweeter to be angled towards the primary listening position after installation, improving high-frequency dispersion and stereo imaging in off-axis seating arrangements. A crossover-mounted HF adjustment switch provides ±3dB of treble control, allowing the tonal balance to be tailored to the acoustics of each room without additional equalisation equipment.

Construction & Materials

The chassis is constructed entirely from UL94 flame-retardant materials, and the driver assembly is moisture-proof throughout — a combination that makes the QI65S suitable for installation in kitchens and bathrooms where humidity levels would compromise conventional speakers. The maximum rear depth of less than 79mm accommodates shallow ceiling voids commonly found in UK residential properties.

Installation

A supplied cutter guide marks the required 203mm ceiling aperture. Four front-mounted screw clamps secure the speaker from below without requiring access to the ceiling void from above. One-handed push-open speaker terminals simplify cable connection during installation. The grille attaches magnetically, snapping cleanly into place without visible fixings.
