The Q Acoustics QI65CP ST is a single-point stereo in-ceiling speaker from Q Acoustics’ Performance range. It delivers full stereo sound from a single ceiling cutout, using dual voice coils and twin swivel tweeters to reproduce both left and right channels simultaneously. This makes it an ideal solution for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and smaller rooms where installing two separate speakers is impractical or unnecessary.
Performance Driver Technology
The QI65CP ST sits within Q Acoustics’ Performance (CP) tier, which features a larger magnet assembly than the standard QI65C range, delivering a 30% increase in programme power handling capability. The 6.5-inch (165mm) woofer uses an injection-moulded, mass-damped Nano Particle based polypropylene cone, paired with two 1-inch (25mm) ferrofluid-cooled silk dome tweeters. Both tweeters are independently swivelable, allowing fine-tuning of the stereo image to suit the room layout and listening position.
Installation & Build
Designed for straightforward ceiling installation, the QI65CP ST requires a 203mm cutout and just 84mm of rear depth, making it suitable for most ceiling voids. Front-mounted dog-ear clamps secure the speaker from below, and one-hand push-connector terminals simplify cable termination during installation. The speaker is constructed from UL94 flame-retardant materials and is moisture-resistant, allowing placement in bathrooms and kitchens provided it is positioned away from direct water sources.
Flexible Sound Tuning
An onboard crossover switch provides ±3dB high-frequency adjustment, enabling installers to tailor treble output to the room’s acoustics. The magnetically-clipped bezel and grille sit almost flush with the ceiling for a discreet, barely visible installation. The grille is paintable and available in both circular and square profiles to match the room’s design.
