The Q Acoustics QI45EW is a compact two-way on-wall speaker from the Q Install range, designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Part of Q Acoustics’ custom installation series, the QI45EW pairs a 4.5-inch polypropylene woofer with a 0.5-inch PEI dome tweeter in a sealed, weatherproof enclosure rated to IPX4. Whether mounted in a garden, patio, restaurant terrace, or conference room, the QI45EW is built to deliver clear, focused sound in environments where conventional speakers would quickly deteriorate.
Weatherproof Construction
The enclosure is moulded from UV-resistant ABS, chosen for its rigidity and resistance to prolonged sun exposure without warping or discolouration. The speaker grille is pressed from aluminium rather than plastic, providing a hard-wearing barrier against rain, dust, and accidental impacts. Together, the IPX4-rated construction means the QI45EW is protected against water splashes from any direction — suitable for exposed outdoor walls where direct rainfall is a factor.
Driver Design & Performance
The 4.5-inch main driver uses a rigid polypropylene cone, paired with a high-quality crossover network that hands off to the 0.5-inch PEI dome tweeter. The bass reflex enclosure design extends low-frequency reach down to 85 Hz, while the tweeter covers the high end up to 20 kHz. With a sensitivity of 86 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, the QI45EW is compatible with the majority of amplifiers and multi-room audio systems. Power handling ranges from 10 W to 50 W, making it well-suited to background music applications as well as higher-output installations.
Installation
The QI45EW includes a versatile wall-mounting bracket with a 70 mm hole spacing, allowing it to be fixed to a wide range of wall surfaces. The compact dimensions of 135 × 245 × 170 mm (including bracket) keep the speaker unobtrusive in any setting. It is commonly deployed in outdoor dining areas, garden entertaining spaces, covered patios, and indoor commercial environments such as conference rooms and reception areas.
