Q Acoustics Qi 80C In-Ceiling Speaker (Pair)

The Q Acoustics Qi 80C is the most powerful unit in Q Acoustics' Q Install professional in-ceiling range, designed for rooms where an 8-inch driver is needed to deliver fuller bass response and greater authority than the smaller Qi 65 models. Sold as a pair, the Qi 80C is engineered for flush-mount installation in ceilings, producing smooth, clean audio while remaining visually unobtrusive.

Driver Configuration

Each Qi 80C unit features an 8-inch woofer paired with a swivel-mounted 19mm (3/4-inch) tweeter. The swivel tweeter allows the high-frequency output to be aimed towards the primary listening position, improving treble clarity and imaging from an overhead mounting point. Power handling is rated at 15–60W programme into a nominal 8-ohm impedance, with a sensitivity of 88 dB (2.83V at 1m).

Installation & Grille Design

The Qi 80C employs a magnetic grille system with a super-slim bezel and narrow-mesh grille that clips firmly into place. This design minimises the visible footprint of the larger 8-inch driver, keeping the ceiling installation as discreet as possible. The grilles are cloth-backed, allowing them to be painted to match the ceiling colour. Protective driver dust covers are included for use during the building and decoration phase, preventing plaster dust and debris from reaching the drivers before the room is finished.

Installation requires a circular cutout of 248mm diameter. The overall speaker diameter is 281mm (round), and the maximum rear depth behind the ceiling is 87mm. Dog-leg clamp fixings secure the speaker into the ceiling from the front, with no access needed above.

Q Install Range

The Qi 80C sits at the top of the Q Install in-ceiling range in terms of driver size. For smaller rooms or where a more compact installation footprint is preferred, Q Acoustics offers the 6.5-inch Qi 65 models, including the standard Qi 65S (pair), the performance-oriented Qi 65CP (single), and the stereo Qi 65ST and Qi 65CP ST variants. For in-wall applications, the range includes the Qi 65RP and Qi 80RP performance in-wall speakers. Compatible Q Install fire and acoustic hoods are available separately for installations requiring fire-rated enclosures.
