The Q Acoustics Qi 65Cw is a weatherproof 6.5-inch in-ceiling speaker from Q Acoustics' Q Install range, designed for environments where standard ceiling speakers would be vulnerable to moisture damage. Rated IP4X, the Qi 65Cw uses stainless steel fixings and corrosion-resistant aluminium grilles alongside fully sealed drive units, making it suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms, kitchens, and sheltered outdoor installations.
Driver Configuration & Performance
Each speaker pairs a 165mm polypropylene woofer with a 25mm fixed tweeter. The woofer delivers clear midrange and controlled bass, while the tweeter provides smooth, detailed treble. A switchable high-frequency adjustment on the crossover allows the tweeter output to be raised or lowered by 3dB, giving installers the flexibility to fine-tune the tonal balance for the room's acoustics and the listener's preferences.
Weatherproof Construction
The Qi 65Cw's IP4X rating certifies it as splash-proof from all directions, meaning it can be safely installed above a shower, bath, or in a steamy kitchen without risk of moisture ingress. The sealed driver construction, stainless steel hardware, and corrosion-resistant aluminium grille ensure long-term reliability in high-humidity environments.
Installation & Integration
With a maximum rear depth of just 84mm, the Qi 65Cw fits into shallow ceiling voids where deeper speakers would not be practical. The 197mm cut-out accepts the speaker body, while the slim bezel and friction-fit grille sit discreetly flush with the ceiling surface. The magnetic grille clips into place without visible fixings and is cloth-backed, allowing it to be painted to match the ceiling for a fully integrated, invisible installation. Protective dust covers are included to keep the drivers clean during the building or decorating process.
The Qi 65Cw is sold as a pair and presents a nominal 8-ohm impedance with a sensitivity of 87dB (2.83V/1m), making it compatible with a wide range of amplifiers and multi-room audio systems. Power handling is rated at 15–60W programme.
