The Q Acoustics E120 is a wall-mounted wireless audio system designed for custom installation, marking the British brand's entry into the installed audio market. Built around a compact Class D stereo amplifier, the E120 delivers music streaming, DAB+ radio, and TV audio connectivity through a discreet wall panel that pairs with any passive speakers — whether Q Acoustics' own in-ceiling and in-wall models or third-party alternatives.
Zero-Clutter Design
The E120 wall panel measures just 91 x 151 x 33mm and weighs 251g, mounting flush to the wall with all cabling hidden behind the surface. The system is IP54-rated, protecting it from dust ingress and water splashes, making it suitable for installation in kitchens, bathrooms, and other humid environments. The included splash-proof remote carries an IP67 rating for full waterproof protection.
Amplification & Audio
The integrated Class D amplifier delivers 2 x 25W into 6 ohms with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz (±1dB). Total harmonic distortion measures 0.07% at 1W, rising to 0.2% at rated power, with a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 75dB. Speaker outputs can be configured in stereo or dual mono mode, and a 3.5mm analogue output (fixed or variable) allows connection to an external subwoofer or secondary amplifier.
Connectivity & Streaming
Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP provides wireless streaming from smartphones, tablets, and laptops, with AVRCP v1.6 support for play, pause, and skip controls. The built-in DAB/DAB+ and FM radio with RDS offers up to five one-touch presets. A 3.5mm analogue input accepts wired sources at up to 1.5V, while a mini TOSLINK optical input handles digital audio at 16-bit/48kHz — ideal for connecting a television's audio output.
Control & Display
The 3.2-inch colour display shows track, artist, and album information during Bluetooth playback, with automatic brightness adjustment via an internal light sensor. Touch-sensitive controls on the fascia provide direct access to source selection, volume, and presets. Two remote controls are included: a full-size unit for general use and a compact splash-proof handset rated to IP67. Two programmable alarm functions support once, daily, weekday, and weekend schedules.
Installation
The E120 is supplied with 2 x 7m speaker cables (19 AWG) and a 5m power cable (16 AWG), along with a backbox for neat in-wall mounting. The external power supply accepts 100–240V AC input and delivers 22V DC at 1.5A, with typical power consumption of 10W and standby draw below 1W.
