The Q Acoustics E120 + Qi65CB bundle is Q Acoustics' entry into the installed audio market, delivering a complete in-ceiling music system from a single box. The package pairs the E120 in-wall amplifier with a stereo pair of Qi65CB ceiling speakers, all necessary cabling, a back box for fire-safe installation, and both a full-size and an IP67 splash-proof remote control. It is designed for rooms where visible hi-fi equipment is impractical or unwanted — kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and garden offices.
E120 In-Wall Amplifier
The E120 control panel fits into a standard double-gang back box, occupying the same wall space as a twin plug socket. It houses a Class D stereo amplifier delivering 2 × 25W at 6 ohms, with a total harmonic distortion of 0.07% at 1W and 0.2% at rated power. The frequency response spans 20Hz to 20kHz ±1dB.
A 3.2-inch colour display with touch-sensitive controls provides direct access to source selection, volume, and five one-touch radio presets. The unit carries an IP54 rating, confirming resistance to dust ingress and water splashes — making it suitable for installation in kitchens and bathrooms where hands may not always be dry.
Connectivity
The E120 supports Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP profile for wireless streaming from smartphones, tablets, and portable audio players. Built-in DAB+/FM radio with RDS provides access to digital and analogue broadcast stations. Wired inputs include a 3.5mm stereo analogue input (350mV sensitivity) and a mini TOSLINK optical digital input. A 3.5mm analogue line output is provided for connection to an external amplifier or recording device.
Speaker outputs are configurable in stereo or dual-mono mode, and the system is compatible with passive speakers rated 6–8 ohms. A subwoofer output allows bass reinforcement to be added. Series-wired speaker pairs can extend coverage to larger rooms.
Qi65CB In-Ceiling Speakers
The Qi65CB is Q Acoustics' slimmest in-ceiling speaker, with a maximum rear depth of just 73mm. It uses a full-range 6.5-inch polypropylene driver with a 55mm (2.2-inch) sympathetic radiator, engineered to deliver good bass extension from 77Hz alongside detailed mid-range voice reproduction and extended high-frequency response — all without a conventional crossover and tweeter arrangement.
Sensitivity is rated at 93dB (2.83V, 1m), meaning the Qi65CB requires less than half the amplifier power of the standard Qi65C to produce the same volume level. This efficiency is well matched to the E120's 25W per channel output. The speakers are moisture-proof with UL94 flame-retardant construction, and include cloth-backed magnetic grilles that are paintable to match any ceiling finish. Installation requires a 203mm ceiling cutout.
Installation & Included Accessories
The bundle includes everything needed for a complete installation: 2 × 7m speaker cables (19 AWG), a 5m power cable (16 AWG), a 3m DAB antenna extension cable, protective dust covers, installation templates, and the E120 back box for fire-regulation compliance. The IP67 splash-proof remote control allows operation from the bath or while cooking, while the full-size remote provides comprehensive control from anywhere in the room.
Power consumption is 10W typical, dropping to under 1W in standby and under 0.5W in deep standby. The power supply accepts 100–240V AC input (UK Type G mains plug) and outputs 22V DC at 1.5A.
