The Concept 300 is Q Acoustics' flagship standmount speaker, sitting at the top of the Concept range above the Concept 30 and just below the Concept 500 floorstander. Developed as a no-compromise two-way design, it draws on the same engineering philosophy that earned the Concept 500 critical acclaim — Dual Gelcore cabinet construction, Point-to-Point bracing, and a spring-loaded isolation base — and distils it into a more compact enclosure. This bundle includes the Concept 300 speakers and a pair of Tensegrity stands.
Dual Gelcore Cabinet Construction
The Concept 300’s cabinet is built from three separate layers of material with Q Acoustics’ Gelcore compound — a non-setting, vibration-absorbing gel — sandwiched between them. This Dual Gelcore approach converts cabinet vibrations into negligible amounts of heat energy, reducing cabinet distortion to an absolute minimum and allowing the drivers to operate against an acoustically inert baffle. Internal Point-to-Point (P2P) bracing further stiffens the structure, targeting the specific resonant modes that remain after the Gelcore treatment.
Drive Units
A 165 mm mid/bass driver with an impregnated paper cone handles frequencies up to the 2.5 kHz crossover point, where a 28 mm microfibre dome tweeter takes over. The drivers are secured from the rear using tension-retaining spring bolts that maintain their torque over time, ensuring consistent mechanical coupling between the drive units and the cabinet.
Isolation Base & Tensegrity Stand
Beneath each Concept 300 cabinet sits a spring-loaded isolation base that mechanically decouples the speaker from whatever surface it rests on. Four precision springs absorb external vibrations before they can reach the cabinet, resulting in tighter stereo imaging and greater low-frequency extension. The included Tensegrity stand — a striking tripod design inspired by Buckminster Fuller’s tensional integrity structures — is engineered specifically for the Concept 300 and further minimises resonance transmission from the floor.
Performance
With a frequency response of 55 Hz – 30 kHz, the Concept 300 delivers bass extension that belies its standmount form factor. Sensitivity is rated at 84 dB with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms (4.7 ohms minimum), and Q Acoustics recommends partnering with an amplifier rated between 25 and 200 watts. The 11.4-litre internal volume and rear-firing reflex port contribute to a full, room-filling sound from a speaker that weighs a substantial 14.5 kg per unit.
