The Q Acoustics 5090 is the dedicated centre channel speaker in the 5000 series — a range that brings technologies developed for Q Acoustics’ flagship Concept models to a more accessible price point. Sitting alongside the 5010 bookshelf, 5020 standmount, 5040 floorstanding, and 5050 large floorstanding speakers, the 5090 completes the lineup for multichannel home cinema systems where dialogue clarity and tonal consistency across all channels are paramount.

C3 Continuous Curved Cone Technology

At the heart of the 5090 are two 110mm mid/bass drivers built around Q Acoustics’ C3 Continuous Curved Cone design. This proprietary driver profile combines the bass performance benefits of a traditional straight conic cone with the midrange control of a flared design, resulting in smoother high-frequency integration with the tweeter and superior bass dynamics. The drivers feature larger 25.4mm voice coils, delivering 50% increased power handling over their predecessors.

Hermetically Sealed Tweeter

The 25mm soft-dome tweeter follows the engineering approach pioneered in the Concept series: it is fully hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated from the front baffle. This isolation prevents internal cabinet pressure modulations from affecting the high-frequency driver, reducing distortion and ensuring crisp, natural detail across the upper frequency range. The centre-mounted position provides a wider frequency response than is typical for centre channel speakers.

Cabinet Design & Construction

The 5090’s cabinet employs Point-to-Point (P2P) internal bracing, which stiffens the enclosure to minimise lower-frequency vibrations while focusing stereo imaging and improving soundstage width. The front baffle features a laminated construction with a butyl rubber damping layer beneath a dark acrylic trim, combining vibration suppression with a clean, contemporary aesthetic. The low-profile cabinet — just 164mm tall — sits neatly beneath a television.
