The Q Acoustics 5010 is the most compact model in the 5000 Series — a range of stereo and home cinema loudspeakers that brought the engineering innovations of the flagship Concept range to a more accessible price point. Sitting below the larger 5020 standmount and 5040 floorstanding models, the 5010 is designed for smaller listening rooms where space is at a premium but audio quality is not negotiable.

C3 Continuous Curved Cone™ Mid/Bass Driver

At the heart of the 5010 is the 110 mm C3 Continuous Curved Cone™ mid/bass driver — a ground-up design that combines the bass performance benefits of a traditional straight conic cone with the high/mid-range frequency control of a flared cone. By creating a single, smooth, continuous curve profile, the C3 cone achieves excellent dispersion alongside a well-controlled frequency response and reduced harmonic distortion, enabling smoother integration with the tweeter. The cone’s geometry requires substantial motor strength for optimal performance: large magnets are coupled to oversized voice coils, delivering a 50% increase in power handling and control over a comparable driver with a 25.4 mm voice coil.

Hermetically Sealed Floating Tweeter

The 25 mm high-frequency driver is based on the tweeter design principle found in the Concept series. It is hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated (floating) from the baffle, preventing internal pressure modulations from the cabinet and adjacent mid/bass driver from reaching the tweeter diaphragm. The inner chamber is carefully vented for lower distortion, with a crossover point of 2.5 kHz chosen for seamless integration through the crossover region.

Cabinet Construction

The 5010 incorporates Q Acoustics’ Point-2-Point™ (P2P) internal bracing, first deployed in the flagship Concept range. P2P bracing stiffens the cabinet to minimise lower-frequency vibrations that would otherwise colour the sound. The baffle fronts are laminated with a layer of butyl rubber and finished with black acrylic trim — serving a dual purpose of damping baffle vibrations and providing a clean, contemporary front presentation uninterrupted by visible fixings. The bass reflex port is rear-firing, and foam bungs are included for fine-tuning bass response when the speakers are positioned close to a rear wall.

Design and Build

The 5010’s minimalist design echoes the elegant lines of the Concept series, with sophisticated rounded edges and a compact footprint of just 264 × 160 × 263 mm. Each speaker weighs 5.6 kg and feels weighty and solid in the hand. A single set of binding post terminals is housed at the rear. Magnetic grilles are included and attach without visible fixings, maintaining the clean aesthetic. The 5010 is available in four finishes: Satin Black, Satin White, Santos Rosewood, and Holm Oak.
