The Q Acoustics 3030i sits at the top of the 3000i bookshelf range, slotting between the smaller 3020i and the 3050i floorstander. It borrows key components from the 3050i — including its oversized 165mm mid/bass driver and 22mm decoupled tweeter — and packages them in a compact standmount cabinet with an internal volume of 12.5 litres, more than double that of the 3020i. The result is a bookshelf speaker that reaches down to 46Hz while remaining small enough for shelf or stand placement.
Driver Technology
The 165mm (6.5") mid/bass driver uses an impregnated and coated paper cone with a low-hysteresis rubber surround, driven by a motor with copper-clad aluminium windings optimised for the smaller standmount cabinet. Above 2.4kHz, a 22mm decoupled dome tweeter takes over. The decoupling mechanism isolates the tweeter from baffle-borne vibrations, reducing colouration and improving high-frequency clarity. Both drivers are framed by chrome-finish bezels that give the 3030i a distinctive family look shared across the 3000i range.
Cabinet Construction
The enclosure uses Q Acoustics’ Point-to-Point (P2P) bracing, a technology first developed for the flagship Concept 500. P2P bracing is a computer-aided process that identifies and reinforces specific stress points within the cabinet, maintaining high rigidity and minimising cabinet-borne resonances without adding excessive mass. The rear panel carries a reflex port with included foam bungs, allowing the owner to tune bass response when the speakers are positioned close to a wall or in a corner.
Placement & Mounting
The 3030i is supplied with pre-fitted rubber feet for shelf placement. For stand mounting, Q Acoustics offers the dedicated 3030FS floor stands (sold separately), which position the tweeter at an optimal listening height. Wall mounting is also possible with optional brackets. Magnetic grilles are included and attach without visible fixings, preserving the clean lines of the cabinet.
