Polk Audio Signature Elite ES35 Centre Speaker Black

The Polk Audio Signature Elite ES35 is the slim centre channel speaker in Polk’s Signature Elite range, positioned alongside the ES20 and ES15 bookshelf speakers, ES50 and ES60 floorstanders, and ES10 surround speakers. Its low-profile cabinet — just 104mm tall — is designed to sit beneath a television without obstructing the screen, while its six-driver array delivers the kind of vocal clarity and power handling that a dedicated centre channel demands in a home cinema system.

Driver Array and Acoustic Design

The ES35 uses a symmetrical driver layout with six 3-inch (76mm) Dynamic Balance mica-reinforced polypropylene mid-bass drivers arranged either side of a central 1-inch (25mm) Terylene dome tweeter. The mica-reinforced polypropylene cones are engineered for low distortion across their operating range, while the Terylene tweeter extends to 40 kHz and beyond for Hi-Res Audio certification. This configuration achieves an 89 dB sensitivity rating at 2.83V/1m with a crossover point at 2.7 kHz, and the speaker is compatible with both 4-ohm and 8-ohm amplifier outputs.

Power Port Bass Technology

Polk’s patented Power Port technology is built into the ES35’s enclosure to smooth the transition of air from the bass port, reducing turbulence and port noise. The result is cleaner, deeper bass extension from a cabinet of this size — the ES35 reaches down to 68 Hz. The acoustically inert enclosure is constructed from critically damped Medite MDF to minimise cabinet resonance and colouration.

Installation and Connectivity

The ES35 accepts amplifier power from 20 to 150 watts per channel via a single pair of gold-plated 5-way binding posts. A rear keyhole slot allows wall mounting, and the speaker can be oriented horizontally or vertically for flexible placement as a left, centre, or right channel. The magnetic grille is anti-diffraction designed and removable.

Home Cinema Compatibility

The ES35 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive audio formats. It pairs with other speakers in the Signature Elite family to build a complete surround sound system — the ES50 or ES60 as front left and right, the ES10 or ES15 as surrounds, and a dedicated subwoofer for the LFE channel.
