Polk Audio Signature Elite ES15 Bookshelf Speakers Black (Pair)

The Polk Audio Signature Elite ES15 is the most compact bookshelf speaker in Polk’s Signature Elite range, designed to deliver detailed, room-filling sound from a small enclosure. Sitting below the larger ES20 in the lineup, the ES15 is intended for smaller listening rooms, desktop setups, and surround-channel duties within a multi-channel home cinema system. It carries Hi-Res Audio certification and is compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X content.

Driver Technology

High frequencies are handled by a 25 mm Terylene dome tweeter, a material chosen for its combination of lightness and rigidity. The Terylene dome extends response to 40 kHz, earning the ES15 its Hi-Res Audio certification from the Japan Audio Society. This extended treble response allows the speaker to reproduce the additional high-frequency detail present in high-resolution recordings.

Midrange and bass duties fall to a 133 mm Dynamic Balance driver using a mica-reinforced polypropylene cone. Polk’s Dynamic Balance technology involves laser interferometry mapping of the cone surface during development to identify and eliminate resonance points, reducing audible distortion and improving clarity through the critical vocal range.

Cabinet Design

The enclosure is constructed from critically damped MDF, braced to minimise panel resonance and colouration. Low-frequency output is extended by Polk’s patented Power Port bass reflex system, which replaces a conventional rear-firing port with a smoothly flared duct terminating against the rear baffle. This geometry reduces port turbulence and the associated chuffing noise at higher volumes, allowing the ES15 to produce cleaner bass output relative to its cabinet size.

A removable magnetic grille with an anti-diffraction design attaches without visible fixings, preserving the clean front baffle when fitted. A keyhole slot on the rear panel allows wall mounting without additional brackets.

System Integration

The ES15 connects via a single pair of gold-plated five-way binding posts, accepting bare wire, spade, pin, and banana plug terminations. Polk recommends amplification between 20 and 100 watts per channel. The 8 ohm nominal impedance ensures broad compatibility with both stereo amplifiers and AV receivers.

Within a Signature Elite surround system, the ES15 pairs naturally with the ES35 centre speaker and ES50 or ES60 floorstanding models for the front channels, with the ES10 available as a dedicated surround speaker. The range shares a consistent tonal character across all models, simplifying system matching.
