The Polk Audio Signature Elite ES10 is the dedicated surround speaker in Polk’s Signature Elite range, designed to serve as the rear or side surround channel in any 5.x, 7.x, or 9.x home cinema configuration. It is the most compact full-range model in the Signature Elite lineup, sitting below the ES15 bookshelf speaker in size, and pairs naturally with the ES35 centre speaker and ES50 or ES60 floorstanding models for a tonally coherent multi-channel system.
Driver Technology
High frequencies are handled by a 25 mm Terylene dome tweeter. The Terylene material is chosen for its combination of lightness and stiffness, extending response beyond 40 kHz and earning the ES10 Hi-Res Audio certification from the Japan Audio Society. This extended treble response ensures the speaker can reproduce the additional high-frequency content present in high-resolution audio tracks.
Bass and midrange duties are handled by a 100 mm Dynamic Balance driver with a mica-reinforced polypropylene cone. Polk’s Dynamic Balance process uses laser interferometry to map the cone surface during development, identifying and eliminating resonance peaks before they can introduce audible colouration. The result is a driver that delivers clear midrange reproduction and punchy bass response from a compact enclosure.
Cabinet Design
The enclosure is constructed from critically damped MDF, chosen for its acoustic inertness and resistance to panel resonance. Low-frequency output is extended by Polk’s patented Power Port bass reflex system, which uses a smoothly flared duct geometry terminating against the rear baffle. This design reduces port turbulence and the associated chuffing noise at higher listening levels, delivering cleaner bass output than a conventional rear-firing port of comparable size.
A removable magnetic grille with an anti-diffraction design attaches without visible fixings, maintaining a clean baffle appearance when fitted. The compact cabinet dimensions, 213 mm tall and 137 mm wide, allow the ES10 to be placed unobtrusively in a range of positions within the listening room.
Installation
The rear panel carries a single pair of gold-plated 5-way binding posts, accepting bare wire, spade, pin, and banana plug terminations. Polk rates the recommended amplifier power at 20–100 watts per channel. The ES10 is compatible with both 4 and 8 ohm outputs, ensuring broad compatibility with AV receivers at every price level.
Wall mounting is supported without additional brackets: a keyhole slot on the rear panel accepts a standard wall screw, and a ¼”-20 threaded insert is provided for use with speaker mounting accessories. The combination makes the ES10 straightforward to position as an on-wall surround speaker alongside larger main-channel speakers on stands.
