The Polk Audio Reserve R300 is the compact centre channel speaker in Polk’s Reserve series, engineered to deliver crisp dialogue reproduction and dynamic midrange performance in a home cinema surround sound system. At just 482.6mm wide, the R300 fits comfortably inside most AV cabinets while providing the clarity and detail needed from the channel that carries the majority of film and television dialogue. The Reserve series sits above Polk’s Monitor XT and Signature Elite ranges, using more advanced driver technologies and refined cabinet engineering to extract greater resolution from each recording.

Pinnacle Ring Radiator Tweeter

The R300’s high-frequency reproduction is handled by a 25mm (1 inch) Pinnacle Ring Radiator tweeter. The distinctive pointed geometry at the centre of the dome guides the dispersion of high-frequency energy outward, widening the listening sweet spot so that dialogue clarity is maintained even for listeners seated off-axis. This driver is Hi-Res Audio Certified, extending the frequency response to 50kHz and ensuring the speaker can faithfully reproduce the extended bandwidth of high-resolution soundtracks and music recordings.

Turbine Cone Woofers

Two 133mm (5.25 inch) Turbine Cone drivers handle the midrange and bass frequencies. The Turbine Cone combines a proprietary foam core with moulded turbine geometry, a design that dramatically increases cone stiffness and damping without adding mass. The result is enhanced resolution through the critical midrange band where dialogue intelligibility and vocal timbre are defined. A crossover point of 2,200Hz divides the work between the tweeter and the Turbine Cones.

Sealed Enclosure Design

Unlike the ported floorstanding models in the Reserve series, the R300 uses a fully sealed enclosure. This design eliminates the turbulence of escaping air that can cause chuffing and other port-related distortions, delivering tighter and more controlled bass down to 65Hz (−3dB). The sealed architecture also makes the R300 less sensitive to placement near rear walls or inside enclosed AV cabinets, where a rear-firing port would be compromised.

Cabinet Construction

The Reserve series cabinets use precisely engineered internal bracing and isolated driver enclosures to minimise standing waves and eliminate panel resonances. The R300 includes nickel-plated five-way binding posts for secure and flexible cable connections, and comes supplied with rubber feet for stable placement on shelves and AV furniture. Magnetic, acoustically transparent grilles are included for a clean aesthetic when preferred.

Home Cinema Compatibility

The R300 is compatible with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced content, making it a capable centre channel for both current and next-generation immersive audio formats. Polk recommends pairing it with an amplifier or AV receiver providing 70W or more per channel for optimum performance, with a compatible power range of 30–200W into its nominal 8Ω impedance (minimum 3.8Ω).
