Peter Tosh - Equal Rights [Orange] (2LP) Vinyl

Equal Rights is the second solo studio album by Peter Tosh, released on Columbia Records in 1977 and recorded at Randy's Studio in Kingston, Jamaica, with overdubs at Aquarius, Joe Gibbs and Dynamic Sounds and mixing at Criteria in Miami. This Music On Vinyl reissue presents it as an expanded 2LP set, pressed on 180 gram audiophile vinyl in a limited edition of 3000 individually numbered copies on orange coloured vinyl.

The Album

Tosh was a founding member of The Wailers alongside Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer, and Equal Rights is the record that established him as a solo voice of the first rank. The opening "Get Up, Stand Up", co-written with Bob Marley, remains one of reggae's defining protest anthems, while "Downpressor Man", "Stepping Razor" and "Apartheid" carry the same directness across the rest of the first two sides. "Downpressor Man" is Tosh's reworking of "Sinner Man".

The Expanded Edition

The original eight track album occupies sides A and B. Sides C and D add nine bonus tracks drawn from rare dub plates, including dub versions of "Jah Guide", "Babylon Queendom" and "Vampires", the ShaJahShoka dub plates of "I Am That I Am", "Heavy Razor" and "Hammer", and the London Sound System dub plate of "African".

Pressing and Packaging

Both records are pressed on 180 gram orange coloured vinyl and housed in a deluxe sleeve with a linen finish. A 4-page booklet is included, and each copy carries an individual number from the run of 3000. Released on 20 February 2026 and manufactured in the EU.
