The Peerless Delta Optical Digital Cable sits in the middle of Peerless-AV's three-tier cable hierarchy, above the entry-level Alpha range and below the flagship Omega series. It is designed for connecting Blu-ray players, DVD players, games consoles, and other digital audio sources to soundbars, AV receivers, and surround-sound systems via the Toslink optical standard.
Construction
At its core, the Delta uses polished high-grade optical fibre coated in reflective PE (polyethylene) optical cladding. This combination ensures precise, distortion-free transfer of the digital audio signal while remaining immune to electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference — a key advantage of optical over copper-based digital interconnects. The outer jacket is PVC, providing everyday durability and flexibility during installation.
Connectors
Both ends are terminated with standard Toslink plugs featuring 24K gold-plated collars. The gold plating enhances long-term contact reliability and corrosion resistance, ensuring a consistent optical seal over repeated connection cycles.
Applications
The Delta optical cable carries multi-channel digital audio signals — including stereo PCM, Dolby Digital 5.1, and DTS — between any devices equipped with Toslink optical ports. Typical applications include connecting a television with an integrated Freeview tuner to a soundbar, linking a games console to an AV receiver, or running a digital audio feed from a CD transport to an external DAC.
