The Ortofon Stylus Dual DN 165 E is the original equipment replacement stylus for the Dual ULM 65 E moving magnet cartridge, manufactured by Ortofon for the Dual brand and supplied through Ortofon's authorised replacement stylus programme. It carries the Dual badging on the stylus body alongside the Ortofon name, confirming it as the genuine OEM part rather than a generic-fit alternative.
Stylus Design
The DN 165 E uses a tipped elliptical diamond mounted on a low-mass cantilever, with a stylus tip radius of 8/18 microns. Equivalent stylus tip mass is rated at 0.5 mg, supporting a dynamic lateral compliance of 25 micrometres per millinewton. The recommended tracking force is 1.5 g, with an operating range of 1.25 to 1.75 g and a tracking angle of 20 degrees.
Performance
Frequency range is quoted at 20 Hz to 25 kHz, with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz at +2/-3 dB. Tracking ability at 315 Hz is rated at 70 micrometres at the recommended tracking force.
Compatibility
This stylus is intended specifically for the Dual ULM 65 E cartridge body. Match the stylus to the cartridge model, not to the turntable, as cartridges may have been changed during a turntable's service life.
