The Stylus 40 is the top-of-the-range replacement stylus in Ortofon's OM (Optimum Match) series of moving magnet cartridges. Fitted with a nude FG70 Fine Line diamond, it offers a markedly more refined contact with the record groove than the elliptical and spherical profiles found further down the OM range, retrieving more detail and improving high-frequency tracking.
Upgrade Path
All cartridge bodies in the OM range share the same fitting, so the Stylus 40 can be installed onto any OM 5, OM 10, OM 20, OM 30, OM 40, OM Super or Concorde cartridge body to lift its performance to the top tier of the series. It is the recommended replacement stylus for the OM 40 and OM 40 GOLD cartridges, and is also designated for the discontinued OM 5S, OM 5E, OM 10, OM 20, OM 30, OM Super and Concorde 10/20/30/40 models.
Stylus Profile
The nude FG70 diamond profile, mounted on an aluminium tube cantilever, is designed to deliver a wide bandwidth and accurate tracking at a moderate downforce. Recommended tracking force is 1.5 g, with a working range of 1.25 to 1.75 g.
