Oasis - Definitely Maybe [Remaster, Gatefold] (2LP) Vinyl

Oasis's debut album remastered for its twentieth anniversary and pressed as a double 180g LP in a gatefold sleeve. It was released on 19 May 2014 by Big Brother Recordings under catalogue number RKIDLP70, as part of the Chasing the Sun reissue campaign.

The Album

Definitely Maybe first appeared on 29 August 1994 on Creation Records. The line-up was Liam Gallagher on lead vocals, Noel Gallagher on lead guitar, backing vocals and songwriting, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs on rhythm guitar, Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan on bass and Tony McCarroll on drums. Recording ran from December 1993 to May 1994 across studios including Monnow Valley in Wales and Sawmills in Cornwall, with Owen Morris eventually brought in to mix the record in Manchester.

It went straight to number one on the UK Albums Chart and became the fastest-selling debut album in British music history at the time. The British Phonographic Industry has certified it 10 times platinum for more than three million UK sales, and it has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. Four singles were drawn from it: "Supersonic", "Shakermaker", "Live Forever" and "Cigarettes & Alcohol".

The Remaster

The album was remastered in 2014 by Ian Cooper at Metropolis Mastering in London. The sleeve credits list the original production as Oasis and Mark Coyle, with additional production and mixing by Owen Morris. "Slide Away" was produced by Dave Batchelor and mixed by Owen Morris, "Sad Song" was produced by Owen Morris, and "Supersonic" and "Married With Children" were mixed by Mark Coyle.

Pressing and Packaging

The set runs to two heavyweight 180g black records playing at 33 rpm in stereo, housed in a gatefold sleeve. The inner gatefold carries the full credits alongside the side-by-side track listing. Copies are supplied with a download code card covering the album plus bonus, unreleased tracks and rarities, as stated on the sleeve sticker.
