The Naim CI-NAP 108 is an eight-channel power amplifier designed for custom installation audio systems. It serves as the amplification core of Naim's CI range, delivering audiophile-grade power to multiple rooms or zones from a single rack-mountable chassis.
Design and Installation
The CI-NAP 108 is built to be integrated into dedicated equipment racks. It accepts standard 19-inch rack mounting brackets and presents a clean, minimal front panel bearing only the Naim logo, eight channel indicator LEDs, and a touch-sensitive power control. The chassis features large heatsink fins along both sides, allowing the amplifier to run silently without fans, which is essential in listening environments where noise is unacceptable.
Inputs and Outputs
Each of the eight amplifier channels has its own dedicated RCA input, allowing completely independent signal feeds to different zones. Two additional L/R bus inputs are provided for distributing a common stereo source across multiple channels simultaneously, bringing the total RCA input count to ten. Each channel also provides an RCA line output for series connection to further amplifiers in larger installations. Speaker connections use Euroblock terminals, with two Euroblock connectors per channel to allow parallel speaker wiring. An independent level control on each channel allows the installer to balance output levels per zone without external attenuation.
Automatic Power Management
The CI-NAP 108 incorporates input signal detection that monitors all channels for audio activity. After 20 minutes without an input signal on any channel, the amplifier automatically enters a low-power standby state, reducing energy consumption in installations where sources may be left connected but unused for extended periods.
Performance
The amplifier delivers 150W per channel into 8 Ohms and 260W per channel into 4 Ohms, providing substantial headroom for both high-sensitivity in-wall speakers and lower-impedance loads. Frequency response extends from 3Hz to 70kHz, and total harmonic distortion plus noise is held below 0.006%, reflecting Naim's commitment to transparency throughout the signal chain.
System Integration
The CI-NAP 108 is designed to pair with the Naim CI-Uniti 102 multi-room streamer, forming a complete custom install system that brings Naim's audio quality to whole-home or commercial audio applications including residential, retail, and marine environments. The universal mains input accepts 100-240V at 50/60Hz, making it compatible with installations worldwide.
