Monitor Audio W265 In-Wall Speaker (Single)

The Monitor Audio W265 is a two-way in-wall speaker from the Core custom install range — Monitor Audio’s most versatile architectural speaker series, designed to deliver high-fidelity audio from a completely flush-mounted installation. The W265 sits alongside the larger W280 in the Core in-wall lineup, offering a compact 6.5-inch format suited to rooms where wall depth or speaker aperture size is a constraint.

Driver Technology

The W265 pairs a 6.5-inch MMP II (Metal Matrix Polymer) bass/midrange driver with a 1-inch C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. The MMP II cone combines strength with low mass, allowing the driver to reproduce deep bass and articulate midrange detail without the colouration associated with heavier diaphragm materials. The C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter extends the high-frequency response to 30 kHz, delivering detailed treble reproduction well beyond the audible range.

Installation Flexibility

The tweeter pivots to direct high frequencies towards the listening position, which is particularly valuable in custom install applications where the speaker may not be directly facing the listener. Three-position high-frequency level adjustment (+3 dB, 0 dB, −3 dB) and a boundary compensation switch (on/off) allow the speaker’s tonal balance to be fine-tuned for its specific mounting location. Speakers mounted close to a corner or ceiling benefit from boundary compensation, which reduces the bass lift caused by reflective surfaces.

The W265 uses Tri-Grip dog fixings for secure, vibration-resistant mounting directly into plasterboard or drywall. A paintable magnetic grille allows the speaker to blend seamlessly with the surrounding wall surface.

Sold Individually

The W265 is sold as a single speaker, allowing installers to specify the exact number of units required for each zone. For stereo applications, two units are needed; for surround sound installations, the W265 can be combined with other speakers from the Core range, including the W280 and W280-IDC.
