Monitor Audio Vestra W10 Subwoofer Matte White

The Vestra W10 is the entry point of Monitor Audio's Vestra subwoofer range, sitting below the W12 and the larger, ported W15. Monitor Audio positions Vestra as an extension of its independent subwoofer line, built to complement stereo and AV systems such as the Bronze and Silver Series, and the W10 is the compact option in that range at 344 x 330 x 360 mm.

Driver and Cabinet

A single 10 inch (254 mm) high linear-excursion C-CAM bass driver fires from the front of a sealed enclosure. C-CAM (Ceramic Coated Aluminium Magnesium) is a light but very rigid cone material that minimises flexing, which Monitor Audio credits with a faster response time and improved accuracy. Across the Vestra drivers, long copper voice coils, enhanced venting and FEA-optimised steel components are used to keep distortion and heat down, while a custom surround maximises cone area and maintains control. The sealed alignment, shared with the W12, is chosen for placement flexibility; only the W15 uses a ported cabinet.

Amplification and Control

The W10 is driven by a 250W high-efficiency Class-D amplifier. Quoted in-room frequency response is 19 Hz to 200 Hz at -6dB, with a maximum usable peak SPL of 111 dB measured to CTA 2010-B. The low pass filter covers 32 Hz to 200 Hz at -6dB, phase is switchable between 0 and 180 degrees, and three DSP equalisation presets (Impact, Movie and Music) allow the balance to be matched to the room and the content. Auto music sensing wakes the subwoofer at line levels above 3 mV and returns it to standby after 20 minutes.

Connections

Connection is via stereo unbalanced RCA inputs and a dedicated LFE unbalanced RCA input, with a 12 V trigger on a 3.5 mm mono jack so the subwoofer can switch with the rest of the system. Input impedance is 47 kOhms. The universal mains supply accepts 85 to 265 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz, and power consumption at one eighth of maximum output is 60 W.

Finish and Placement

This version is finished in matte white and fitted with a cloth covered grille. Monitor Audio designs the Vestra subwoofers to be used on their own or in multiples, and the W10's compact footprint makes it straightforward to place, whether as a single unit in a smaller two-channel system or as a pair in a multi-subwoofer AV install.
