Monitor Audio SoundFrame 2 On-Wall Speaker (Single)

The Monitor Audio SoundFrame 2 is the mid-size model in the SoundFrame on-wall speaker range, sitting between the compact SoundFrame 1 and the full-size SoundFrame 3. Designed to mount flush against a wall with a depth of just 87.5mm, the SoundFrame 2 adopts the proportions of a slim picture frame so that it can be integrated into a living space without visual intrusion. It is sold as a single speaker, allowing any combination to be assembled for stereo, 5.1, 7.1 or larger multichannel systems.

Driver Technology

The SoundFrame 2 is a true three-way design built around Monitor Audio’s Inverted Dual Concentric (IDC) driver module. The IDC places a 25mm C-CAM gold dome tweeter at the acoustic centre of a 102mm mid-range cone, creating a single point source that radiates sound from one coherent axis. This arrangement delivers wide, even dispersion and precise stereo imaging regardless of listening position. The entire IDC module pivots, allowing the listener to aim the mid and high frequencies towards the primary seating area after installation.

Low-frequency duties are handled by a separate 165mm (6.5″) C-CAM bass driver featuring Monitor Audio’s Rigid Surface Technology (RST) dimpled cone profile. The RST pattern stiffens the cone without adding mass, reducing breakup modes and extending the usable bandwidth of the driver. The three-way crossover network transitions at 550Hz and 3.3kHz, keeping each driver operating within its optimal range.

Enclosure & Installation

The sealed-box enclosure is finished in high-gloss lacquer and is available in black or white frames, with a primed option for those who wish to paint the frame to match their wall colour. At 790 × 240 × 87.5mm and 7.06kg, the SoundFrame 2 is straightforward to wall-mount. Clip-in grille panels are available in a selection of standard cloth colours, custom artwork prints, or a frameless option, enabling the speaker to blend into virtually any interior scheme.

Performance

The sealed-box alignment provides a controlled, predictable bass roll-off that integrates well with subwoofers in a multichannel system. Frequency response extends from 55Hz to 35kHz, with a sensitivity of 86dB (1W @ 1m) and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. Monitor Audio recommend amplification in the 25–100W RMS range, with a maximum SPL capability of 106dBA per speaker.
