The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G is the wall-mounted model in the Silver Series 8G range, a seven-model line-up designed to support both high-performance two-channel listening and fully immersive multi-channel system configurations. It is equally at home delivering stereo or immersive AV effects, and its slimline cabinet can be mounted horizontally or vertically, making it suitable as a left, centre or right speaker around a screen, or as a side or rear effects channel in a multi-channel home cinema system.
Drivers and Crossover
The Silver On-Wall 8G is a two-way design built around a 6-inch C-CAM bass/mid driver using Monitor Audio's RST III cone geometry, paired with a 25 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. For Silver Series 8G the RST III driver and motor system have been re-engineered for greater transparency and control through the critical vocal range, with an updated cone geometry that increases rigidity and reduces colouration, plus a progressive spider, an upgraded voice coil and an improved venting system. The refined crossover, set at 2.9 kHz, uses carefully selected capacitors, inductors and resistors for more precise signal division and tighter integration between the two drivers.
Cabinet and Bass Loading
The cabinet uses rigid internal bracing and damping to reduce resonance and panel vibration, while Through-Bolt Technology braces the drive units to the rear of the cabinet and tightens them to a specific torque, removing unwanted chassis resonance. Bass loading is handled by Monitor Audio's Silent Flow Port Technology, tuned to 47 Hz. The larger port diameter reduces turbulence compared with previous ranges, and a flare geometry inspired by the interlocking wing feathers of an owl guides airflow smoothly through the port to minimise chuffing. In-room frequency response is quoted as 44 Hz to 35 kHz at -6 dB.
Installation and System Matching
Each Silver On-Wall 8G is sold individually, so any channel count can be specified exactly. Nominal impedance is 8 Ohms with a minimum of 5.5 Ohms, and Monitor Audio recommends 25 to 100 W RMS into 8 Ohms, or 50 to 200 W into 4 Ohms, placing it within reach of most stereo amplifiers and AV receivers. Continuous power handling is 100 W to CTA 426-B and maximum peak SPL is 112 dB. With all accessories fitted the cabinet measures 465 x 300 x 135 mm and each speaker weighs 8.9 kg.
Satin White Finish
The Silver Series 8G range is offered in three contemporary finishes, and this is the Satin White version. Its plain white surface suits light-toned rooms and blends into a pale wall, where an on-wall speaker is often intended to recede visually rather than draw attention. The Silver On-Wall 8G is also offered in European Walnut and High Gloss Black.
