The Silver Centre 8G is the dedicated centre channel of Monitor Audio's Silver Series 8G, a seven-model range that also comprises the Silver 500 8G, Silver 300 8G, Silver 100 8G, Silver 50 8G, Silver On-Wall 8G and Silver AMS 8G. Monitor Audio positions it as the anchor for any Silver Series home cinema system, where dialogue clarity and soundtrack effects matter most. It is sold as a single unit.
Three-Way Driver Array
The Silver Centre 8G is a true three-way design. Twin 6-inch C-CAM bass drivers flank a central pod carrying a dedicated 3-inch midrange driver and a 25 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. Giving the midrange its own driver keeps voices clear and centred, while the horizontally spaced bass units carry the weight of a soundtrack. The cones use Monitor Audio's latest RST III geometry, with a re-engineered motor system, a progressive spider, an upgraded voice coil and an improved venting system for greater linearity, airflow and power handling.
Tweeter and Waveguide
The C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter has been reworked for Silver Series 8G with a vented design and revised internal enclosure geometry to reduce distortion and improve airflow, together with an updated compression ring geometry and a new ring neodymium magnet for increased magnetic efficiency. It sits in Monitor Audio's UD Waveguide II, which is intended to keep performance stable and consistent across all listening levels.
Sealed Cabinet Construction
The Silver Centre 8G uses a sealed bass alignment, which Monitor Audio specifies for tight, controlled bass that enhances dialogue clarity and integrates cleanly with the rest of the system. The cabinet uses rigid internal bracing and damping to reduce resonance and panel vibration, and Through-Bolt Technology braces each drive unit to the rear of the enclosure at a specified torque, so that drivers and cabinet act as one rigid structure.
Crossover
The crossover has been upgraded over the previous Silver range with carefully selected capacitors, inductors and resistors chosen to improve electrical performance and reduce losses. It divides the signal at 620 Hz between the bass drivers and the midrange, and at 3.0 kHz between the midrange and the tweeter.
Connection
The rear panel carries two pairs of binding posts fitted with terminal links, so the speaker can be run single wired, bi-wired or bi-amped. The lower pair is marked LF and the upper pair HF. The links stay in place for single wiring and must be removed for bi-wiring or bi-amping.
European Walnut Finish
This version is finished in European Walnut. Monitor Audio makes the veneer from real, fully engineered wood, carefully layered and shaped from sustainable timber to achieve the rich grain, pattern and colour of exotic woods without harvesting rare or endangered trees. High Gloss Black and Satin White are also available.
In a System
The Silver Centre 8G is designed to partner the rest of the Silver Series 8G range, with the Silver 500 8G, Silver 300 8G, Silver 100 8G or Silver 50 8G handling the left and right channels and the Silver AMS 8G adding Dolby Atmos height effects. Monitor Audio quotes a recommended amplifier power of 100 to 400 W into 4 Ohms, or 50 to 200 W into 8 Ohms, and covers the speaker with a 5 year warranty.
