Monitor Audio Silver C250 7G Centre Speaker Black Oak

The Monitor Audio Silver C250 7G is the dedicated centre channel speaker in the Silver Series 7G range — Monitor Audio’s long-running mid-range loudspeaker family, now in its seventh generation. Sitting alongside the Silver 50, Silver 100, Silver 200, Silver 300 and Silver 500 7G models, the C250 is a full 3-way sealed-cabinet design that combines the dialogue clarity of a compact centre speaker with the bass extension and output capability of a larger unit. It replaces the split approach of the previous generation, where buyers had to choose between the smaller C150 6G and the larger C350 6G.

Driver Technology

The C250 7G uses a three-way driver complement: two 5¼-inch (134mm) C-CAM RST II bass drivers, a dedicated 3-inch (76mm) C-CAM RST II mid-range driver, and a 1-inch (25mm) C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter fitted with Monitor Audio’s Uniform Dispersion (UD) Waveguide II. The dedicated mid-range driver is the key distinction from two-way centre speakers, which force the bass driver to handle both low-frequency output and vocal reproduction. By separating these roles, the C250 7G can deliver cleaner dialogue while the bass drivers handle the lower registers independently.

All three cone drivers use Monitor Audio’s Rigid Surface Technology II (RST II), identifiable by its distinctive hexagonal dimple pattern. RST II increases the structural rigidity of the C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) cone, improving directivity and reducing breakup distortion at higher output levels. The Gold Dome tweeter’s UD Waveguide II controls high-frequency dispersion to maintain consistent off-axis response — particularly important for a centre channel speaker, which must deliver clear sound across a wide seating area.

Cabinet Design

The C250 7G uses a sealed (acoustic suspension) cabinet rather than a ported design. A sealed enclosure provides a more controlled, tighter bass roll-off and is less sensitive to placement near walls or inside AV furniture — a practical advantage given that centre speakers are often placed on shelves or inside media cabinets. Rubber stopper feet are included for shelf or furniture-top placement.

The cabinet is available in five finishes: Black Oak, Natural Walnut, Ash, Satin White, and High Gloss Black. The wood veneer options use real-wood surfaces, while the Satin White and High Gloss Black are painted finishes.

System Integration

With a sensitivity of 88.5dB (2.83V @ 1m) and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms (minimum 3.9 ohms at 170Hz), the C250 7G is a straightforward load for most AV receivers and amplifiers. Monitor Audio recommends amplification in the 80–200W range. Maximum SPL is rated at 110dB (single unit, free-field measurement).

The 3-way crossover splits at 650Hz (low to mid) and 3.3kHz (mid to high), ensuring that the critical vocal frequency band is handled entirely by the dedicated mid-range driver. The frequency response extends from 65Hz to 35kHz (−6dB, in-room measurement).

The C250 7G is designed to partner with any combination of Silver 7G speakers in a multi-channel system. Monitor Audio offers pre-configured cinema packages including the Silver 200 7G Cinema 5.1 and the Silver 300 7G Dolby Atmos 7.1.2, both of which use the C250 7G as the centre channel. It can also be paired with the Silver FX 7G surround speakers and Silver AMS 7G Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers for a fully matched system.
