The Monitor Audio Silver AMS 7G is the Dolby Atmos®-enabled height module in Monitor Audio’s seventh-generation Silver Series — a range that has been refined across multiple generations to offer class-leading driver technology at its price point. Designed to sit directly on top of the Silver 300 7G floorstanding speaker, the AMS creates an acoustically and aesthetically seamless Atmos system, though its discreet sealed cabinet and included keyhole wall-mounts make it equally suited to independent wall mounting as a dedicated height channel.

Dolby Atmos® Height Channels

Dolby Atmos® moves beyond the traditional concept of channel-based surround by treating audio as independent objects that can be placed at any point in a three-dimensional space — including directly overhead. The Silver AMS 7G achieves this by firing sound upwards to reflect off the ceiling, returning it as a convincing overhead effect without requiring in-ceiling installation. Monitor Audio’s Dolby Atmos® certification confirms that the speaker meets the technical thresholds for level, dispersion, and directivity demanded by the format. The AMS can be used in pairs at the front, rear, or both positions, supporting 5.1.2, 7.1.2, and other Atmos configurations.

C-CAM RST II Driver Technology

The Silver AMS 7G is a 2-way design built around a single 5¼” (134mm) C-CAM mid-bass driver featuring Monitor Audio’s second-generation Rigid Surface Technology (RST II). RST II uses complex surface pressings to make the cone tougher and more rigid, delivering excellent directivity — characteristics that are particularly relevant for the short, intense sound effects that characterise Atmos height content. The 1” (25mm) C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter is paired with Monitor Audio’s optimised Waveguide, which controls the tweeter’s dispersion pattern to deliver consistent high-frequency coverage across the vertical axis — important for a speaker that must radiate energy upward as well as outward. A sealed cabinet topology was chosen for the AMS rather than a ported design, trading the lower bass extension of a reflex enclosure for tighter, more controlled low-frequency output — well suited to a speaker whose bass output is typically supplemented by the main floorstanders below it.

Silver Series 7G Design

The 7G generation introduced a revised cabinet with crisply drawn edges and a choice of high-quality finishes. The Silver AMS 7G is available in High Gloss Black or Satin White — both finishes engineered to match the Silver 300 7G and other Silver 7G models in the range. The redesigned crossover operates at 2kHz and is voiced to work with the 7G driver complement. Updated tweeter and driver trims reduce the visual prominence of the mid-bass surround while integrating the tweeter’s waveguide into the baffle design. Dedicated keyhole wall-mount brackets are included for those wishing to mount the AMS independently as height surround speakers.
