Driver Technology
The C350 uses Monitor Audio's proprietary C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) driver technology throughout. The twin 6-inch bass drivers and dedicated 4-inch midrange driver all feature RST (Rigid Surface Technology) cone profiles — a dimpled surface pattern that increases diaphragm rigidity without adding mass, reducing breakup distortion at higher output levels. The midrange driver uses an under-hung voice coil and motor system to ensure very low distortion across its operating band.
The 25mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter incorporates a vented neodymium magnet system. Venting the rear of the dome reduces back-pressure behind the diaphragm, lowering distortion and extending the high-frequency response to 35kHz.
Three-Way Crossover Design
The three-way topology is central to the C350's performance. By dedicating separate drivers to bass, midrange, and treble duties — crossing over at 830Hz (LF/MF) and 3.2kHz (MF/HF) — each driver operates within its optimal frequency band. Sealed Cabinet Construction
Unlike ported designs, the C350 uses a sealed (acoustic suspension) cabinet. This makes it less sensitive to boundary placement — essential for a centre speaker that typically sits inside an AV cabinet or close to a wall. The rigid 20mm MDF enclosure uses scientifically optimised internal bracing to minimise panel resonance. Cast polymer driver chassis provide improved rigidity and damping compared to pressed-steel alternatives.
The C350 is a substantial speaker at 235 x 560 x 240mm and 14.9kg — considerably larger than most centre channels. This size enables genuine three-way performance with sufficient internal volume for the twin 6-inch bass drivers to operate effectively down to 40Hz.
Integration and Matching
The vertical orientation of the midrange and tweeter axis delivers the same directivity pattern as the Silver floorstanding and bookshelf models, ensuring seamless tonal matching across the front soundstage. Monitor Audio designed the C350 as the reference centre for the Silver 300 and Silver 500 floorstanding speakers, with all three sharing the same driver complement and crossover philosophy. Bespoke bi-wire terminals allow separate amplification of the bass and mid/treble sections.
Ultra-low profile grilles attach via invisible magnetic fixings, maintaining clean aesthetics whether grilles are fitted or removed.
