The Silver 50 7G is the most compact speaker in Monitor Audio's Silver Series 7th Generation range, sitting below the Silver 100 7G bookshelf and Silver 200 7G floorstander. Designed in the UK, the Silver 50 7G delivers bass extension that belies its small footprint, making it an ideal choice for stereo music systems or as front and rear channels in a home cinema setup where space is at a premium.

Driver Technology

At the heart of the Silver 50 7G is a 5¼-inch (134mm) C-CAM mid-bass driver featuring Monitor Audio's Rigid Surface Technology II (RST II). The distinctive hexagonal dimple pattern on the cone surface increases stiffness without adding mass, reducing breakup modes and delivering lower distortion across the operating range. The result is tighter, more controlled bass and a cleaner midrange than conventional flat-cone designs.

High frequencies are handled by a 1-inch (25mm) C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter, paired with a second-generation Uniform Dispersion (UD) Waveguide II. The waveguide controls the tweeter's radiation pattern to produce a wider, more even sound field, ensuring consistent tonal balance across a broad listening area rather than a narrow sweet spot.

Cabinet Design

The rear-ported cabinet uses Monitor Audio's HiVe II port system, tuned to 58 Hz. The internal geometry of the port is designed to reduce turbulence and chuffing at higher volumes, allowing the speaker to breathe cleanly even when driven hard. The cabinet dimensions of 282 x 165 x 272mm (H x W x D) keep the Silver 50 7G genuinely bookshelf-friendly, and rubber stopper feet are included as standard for shelf placement. The speaker can also be wall-mounted using the optional Monitor Audio FIX-M bracket.

Performance

The Silver 50 7G has been optimised for near-wall placement, making it more forgiving of real-world positioning than many rear-ported designs. Its 2-way crossover network hands over at 2.6 kHz, and the speaker presents a nominal 8-ohm load with a minimum impedance of 3.9 ohms at 250 Hz. Sensitivity is rated at 86 dB (2.83V at 1m), with frequency response extending from 47 Hz to 35 kHz (-6 dB, in-room). Maximum SPL is 104 dB (single speaker, free-field). Monitor Audio recommends amplifiers rated between 40 and 100 watts.

Finish Options

The Silver 50 7G is available in five finishes: Ash, High Gloss Black, Black Oak, Natural Walnut, and Satin White. The real-wood veneer options (Ash, Black Oak, Natural Walnut) showcase natural grain patterns, while the High Gloss Black and Satin White offer painted alternatives for contemporary interiors.
