The Silver 300 7G is a 3-way floorstanding speaker from Monitor Audio’s Silver Series 7G — the seventh generation of a range that has defined the brand’s mid-market offering for over two decades. Sitting between the compact Silver 200 7G and the flagship Silver 500 7G, the Silver 300 7G occupies the middle ground of the floorstanding lineup, pairing a dedicated mid-range driver with dual bass units for extended low-frequency reach without the physical footprint of the larger model.
Driver Technology
The Silver 300 7G uses a 25mm C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) Gold Dome tweeter mounted in Monitor Audio’s Uniform Dispersion Waveguide II. This waveguide is designed to control the tweeter’s off-axis response, maintaining consistent tonal balance across a wide listening area. Below the tweeter sits a 76mm C-CAM mid-range driver featuring Rigid Surface Technology II (RST II) — the hexagonal dimple pattern visible on the cone surface that increases stiffness without adding mass, reducing breakup modes and the distortion they cause. Two 152mm C-CAM bass drivers, also with RST II treatment, handle low-frequency duties.
Cabinet & Port Design
The rear-ported cabinet uses Monitor Audio’s Dual HiVe II port system, a flow-straightening design that reduces turbulence and port noise at higher playback levels. Port tuning is set at 40 Hz. The cabinet dimensions are 1000 × 185 × 332mm (H × W × D), extending to 1045 × 274 × 389mm with the outrigger feet and spikes fitted. Each speaker weighs 19.3 kg.
Performance
The 3-way crossover splits at 750 Hz (LF/MF) and 2.8 kHz (MF/HF), with a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms dropping to a minimum of 4.0 Ohms at 160 Hz. Sensitivity is rated at 87.5 dB (2.83V at 1m), and the speaker handles up to 200 W RMS with a recommended amplifier power range of 80–200 W. Frequency response extends from 31 Hz to 35 kHz (−6 dB, in-room), delivering genuinely deep bass for a speaker of this size. Maximum SPL is rated at 110 dB per speaker in free-field conditions.
Placement & Setup
The outrigger feet provide stability on the relatively narrow cabinet, with a choice of floor spikes for carpeted rooms or rubber feet for hard floors. The rear-ported design is tuned to be forgiving of placement close to rear walls, though some breathing room will allow the Dual HiVe II ports to perform at their best. Bi-wire/bi-amp capable binding posts are fitted as standard, with separate LF and HF terminals accessible from the rear panel.
Finish Options
The Silver 300 7G is available in five finishes: Black Oak, High Gloss Black, Satin White, Ash, and Natural Walnut. The wood veneer options (Black Oak, Ash, Natural Walnut) use real-wood veneers, while the Satin White and High Gloss Black are painted finishes.
