Monitor Audio Silver 100 8G Standmount Speakers High Gloss Black (Pair)

The Monitor Audio Silver 100 8G sits in the upper half of the seven-model Silver Series 8G range, priced above the compact Silver 50 8G and the Silver Centre 8G and below the Silver 300 8G and flagship Silver 500 8G floorstanders. It is the only standmount in the range built as a true three-way system, which gives it a distinct role: floorstander-class bass extension and midrange separation without a floorstander footprint.

Three-Way Driver Array

An 8-inch C-CAM bass driver with RST III cone geometry handles low frequencies and crosses over at 610 Hz to a dedicated 3-inch C-CAM RST III mid-range driver. Because the midrange has its own drive unit, the bass driver is relieved of vocal-band duties, and the 25 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter takes over at 2.9 kHz. Monitor Audio re-engineered the RST III driver and motor system for the 8G generation to deliver greater transparency and control through the critical vocal range, with an updated cone geometry that increases rigidity and reduces colouration, a newly developed progressive spider, an upgraded voice coil and an improved venting system for enhanced linearity, airflow and power handling.

C-CAM Gold Dome Tweeter

The high-frequency C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter has been comprehensively optimised with a vented design and revised internal enclosure geometry to reduce distortion and improve airflow, along with an updated compression ring geometry and a new ring neodymium magnet for increased magnetic efficiency. It works with the latest UD Waveguide II, which Monitor Audio states allows the Silver Series drivers to deliver more stable, consistent performance across all listening levels. In-room response extends to 35 kHz.

Silent Flow Port and Cabinet

Bass loading uses Silent Flow Port Technology, new for the 8G range. Increasing the port diameter reduces turbulence significantly compared with previous ranges, and an innovative flare geometry inspired by the interlocking wing feathers of an owl guides airflow smoothly through the port to minimise chuffing. Tuned to 37 Hz, the port supports an in-room response reaching 33 Hz at -6 dB, unusually deep for a standmount. The cabinet uses rigid internal bracing and damping to reduce resonance and panel vibration, while Through-Bolt Driver technology braces the C-CAM drive units to the rear of the cabinet and tightens them to a specific torque, removing unwanted chassis resonances and strengthening overall cabinet rigidity.

Crossover and Amplifier Matching

The Silver Series 8G crossover has been upgraded over the previous range using high-quality components for more precise signal division and minimal colouration, with carefully selected capacitors, inductors and resistors chosen to improve electrical performance and reduce losses. Nominal impedance is 8 Ohms with a minimum of 3.7 Ohms at 140 Hz. Monitor Audio recommends 50 to 200 W RMS into 8 Ohms, or 100 to 400 W into 4 Ohms. Sensitivity is 87 dB, continuous power handling is 200 W and maximum peak SPL is 114 dB.

High Gloss Black Finish

This pair is supplied in High Gloss Black, one of three finishes offered for the Silver 100 8G and the choice for a more contemporary style. Magnetically attached grilles keep the speakers looking clean when in place and can be removed to show off the drive units. The Silver 100 8G is also offered in European Walnut and Satin White.
