The Monitor Audio Gold C250 6G is a three-way centre channel loudspeaker designed to sit at the heart of a Gold Series 6G home cinema system. It occupies the centre of Monitor Audio's Gold Series lineup, which now in its sixth generation combines over four decades of metal driver cone technology with new acoustic engineering developed for this series.
Construction and Drivers
The Gold C250 6G features Monitor Audio's latest HDT (Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology) cone, developed from the RDT III cones used in the Platinum and Hyphn series. The HDT cone employs a hexagonal pattern to disrupt symmetries in cone breakup, reducing distortion for cleaner, punchier low frequencies. Two 6-inch (152 mm) HDT C-CAM bass drivers handle low-frequency duties, each mounted in a cast aluminium chassis designed to maximise airflow and rigidity. A 3-inch (76 mm) HDT C-CAM mid-range driver ensures vocals, dialogue, and dynamic passages within film soundtracks are reproduced with clarity and precision.
High-Frequency Performance
The C250 6G uses Monitor Audio's third-generation MPD (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) tweeter. The MPD III transducer has undergone extensive refinement to deliver greater consistency, clarity, and accuracy at high frequencies, extending response to 60 kHz. Its design is tuned for effortless musicality, making it equally suited to music listening as to home cinema use.
Cabinet and Crossover
The sealed cabinet is engineered for maximum rigidity, using advanced bracing techniques and precise internal geometry. This forms part of Monitor Audio's Transparent Design Philosophy, in which the cabinet, drivers, and crossover are developed as a unified system. The crossover has been developed using high-quality capacitors and refined through hundreds of hours of listening tests by Monitor Audio's acoustics team. Crossover points are set at 800 Hz (LF/MF) and 2.7 kHz (MF/HF).
Finish and Integration
The Macassar finish uses a genuine wood veneer with distinctive dark grain patterning, adding a premium natural material to the cabinet. Machined aluminium anodised driver trims complement the veneer with a precise, refined aesthetic. The C250 6G is designed to integrate seamlessly with the Gold Series 6G floorstanding and surround speakers, forming a complete home cinema system with matched acoustic character throughout.
