The high-frequency duties are handled by Monitor Audio's latest MPD III (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) tweeter, which uses a folded pleated membrane to achieve an exceptionally wide frequency response extending to 60 kHz. The mid-range section is managed by a dedicated 3-inch (76 mm) HDT C-CAM (Hex Diaphragm Technology, Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) driver. Bass reproduction is entrusted to a pair of 8-inch (203 mm) HDT C-CAM bass drivers, each benefiting from Monitor Audio's latest cone geometry and powerful motor systems to deliver authoritative low-frequency output. The application of HDT technology across both the mid and bass drivers provides optimised stiffness distribution, controlling cone resonances for cleaner, more accurate sound across the frequency range.
Cabinet and Bass Loading
The Gold 500 6G employs a ported cabinet using Monitor Audio's HiVe II port technology. HiVe II ports are profiled to optimise airflow and minimise turbulence, reducing port noise for cleaner bass output at higher volumes. The port is tuned to 33 Hz, supporting the speaker's in-room frequency response down to 25 Hz (-6 dB). The cabinet is fitted with cast aluminium outrigger feet which broaden the footprint for improved stability. Magnetic grilles are included as standard.
