Monitor Audio Gold 300 6G Floorstanding Speakers Macassar (Pair)

The Gold 300 6G is the mid-sized floorstanding loudspeaker within Monitor Audio's Gold Series 6G range. Sitting between the slimmer Gold 100 6G and the flagship Gold 500 6G, it offers a smaller footprint and slimmer profile than the 500 while delivering outstanding levels of performance. Technologies developed for Monitor Audio's Statement flagship speaker, including the Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology (HDT) and the Micro-Pleated Diaphragm III (MPD III) tweeter, have been refined and brought into the Gold Series 6G.

Driver Complement and Technology

The Gold 300 6G is a three-way design built around twin 6-inch (152 mm) HDT C-CAM bass drivers, a 3-inch (76 mm) HDT C-CAM mid-range driver, and the MPD III high-frequency transducer. C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) is Monitor Audio's proprietary cone material, combining stiffness and low mass for accurate pistonic motion across the driver's operating range. The Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology applies a hexagonal cell structure to the cone surface, further increasing rigidity without adding weight, resulting in lower distortion and improved dynamics. The MPD III tweeter operates as a planar-magnetic transducer with a micro-pleated membrane, delivering extended high-frequency response to 60 kHz alongside low moving mass and minimal coloration.

Cabinet Design

The bass section uses Monitor Audio's HiVe II ported alignment, with a port tuning frequency of 35 Hz. Two rear-firing ports manage bass loading, enabling in-room frequency response to reach 28 Hz (-6 dB). Crossover points are set at 800 Hz between the low-frequency and mid-range sections, and at 2.7 kHz between mid-range and tweeter. Cast aluminium outrigger feet are fitted as standard, providing a stable base on both carpeted and hard floors. Magnetic grilles are included.

Performance and System Matching

Sensitivity is rated at 87 dB (2.83 V at 1 m, free-field), with a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a minimum impedance of 3.9 ohms at 165 Hz. Monitor Audio recommends amplification of 130–500 W (RMS into 4 ohms, music signal). Maximum peak SPL is 117 dB (AES75, Z-weighted). The Gold 300 6G is designed to deliver music and cinema with pure, detailed, high-fidelity sound, whether partnered with a high-quality stereo amplifier or as the front channels of a home cinema system.
