The Gold 300 is the flagship floorstanding speaker in Monitor Audio's Gold Series 5G — the fifth generation of one of the company's most acclaimed ranges. Sitting above the Gold 200 and below the Platinum Series in Monitor Audio's hierarchy, the Gold 300 brings technology derived from the flagship Platinum II speakers into a more accessible package, delivering genuine audiophile performance engineered for larger listening rooms.

Driver Technology

The Gold 300 employs a true three-way driver arrangement. At the top sits Monitor Audio's MPD (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) high-frequency transducer — a folded ribbon design that delivers extended, articulate high frequencies with exceptional smoothness. The 64 mm (2.5") C-CAM mid-range driver handles the critical vocal band, while a pair of 203 mm (8") bass drivers provide the low-frequency foundation.

The bass drivers use Monitor Audio's RDT II (Rigid Diaphragm Technology II) cone construction — a sandwich of C-CAM on the front, woven carbon-fibre on the rear, with a Nomex honeycomb core between them. This combination delivers high stiffness and low mass with excellent internal damping, enabling clean, controlled bass output down to 30 Hz.

Cabinet & Port Design

The Gold 300's cabinet features dual rear-facing HiVe II (High Velocity, low noise) ports. The HiVe II design uses a tapered, flared port geometry that smooths airflow and reduces turbulence, resulting in tighter bass and improved transient response compared to conventional reflex ports.

Internal cabling uses Monitor Audio's Pureflow silver-plated OFC (oxygen-free copper) conductors, while the drivers are secured using a single-bolt-through mounting system that couples each driver directly to the rear panel, reducing cabinet resonance. The speaker sits on sturdy cast metal outrigger feet fitted with interchangeable spikes or rubber feet to suit different floor surfaces.

Finishing & Design

Each Gold 300 features a soft-touch top trim and bespoke magnetic grilles that attach without visible fixings, maintaining the speaker's clean aesthetic whether the grilles are on or off. Custom-made, gold-plated bi-wire terminals allow flexible connection options. The Gold 300 is available in four finishes: Dark Walnut, Piano Ebony, Piano Gloss Black, and Satin White.
