The Monitor Audio CS160 Slim is part of Monitor Audio’s Slim range of custom install in-ceiling speakers, designed for installations where ceiling void depth is limited. With a mounting depth of just 99 mm, the CS160 Slim fits where standard-depth ceiling speakers cannot, making it suited to rooms with shallow ceiling cavities, concrete soffits, or retrofits into existing builds.
Driver Technology
The CS160 Slim uses a 6-inch (152 mm) MMP II bass/mid-range cone driver paired with a 25 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. The MMP II (Metal Matrix Polymer) cone is a Monitor Audio proprietary technology combining the stiffness of a metal diaphragm with the damping characteristics of a polymer layer, reducing breakup modes and colouration. The C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter is a pivoting design, allowing the high-frequency dispersion to be aimed towards the primary listening position after installation.
Installation
The CS160 Slim requires a circular cut-out of 170 mm diameter and just 99 mm of clearance behind the ceiling surface. It is supplied with both round and square grilles, allowing the installer to choose the aesthetic that best suits the room. The grilles are paintable, enabling them to be colour-matched to the ceiling for a discreet, flush-mounted appearance.
